How to Install Chain Link Fence on Concrete?

Chain Link Fence Installation on concrete is not a difficult task if you have the right equipment and the required skills. It can also be done easily with the help of modern technology. To install a chain link fence on a concrete slab, you have to remove the existing ground covering first. You can dig the hole with a post-hole digger, or you can use a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner. The latter is recommended.

Before digging, you will need to mark the location of your fence. This will ensure that the posts are in the correct position. Paint the area with a rope or marker to get a good idea of the layout. Depending on the size of your fence, you may need to make a hole in the ground. Once the hole is dug, you will need to place the fence parts on the designated location.

For a chain link fence to be strong, each post must be set deep in the ground. If you use a post-hole digger, you can put each post into the hole. However, this can be a hassle because it requires a lot of effort to pound the posts into the ground. A better way is to let them sit for at least 24 hours before you start installing the fence.

When you have placed all the fence parts in the proper position, you should install the tension bar. These bars make the end of the fence rigid. They can be tightened to the desired height to prevent bending. In addition, you can insert the tension bar into the chain link mesh.

After installing the tension bar, you can add the top rail to the fence. You can then cut the rails with a hacksaw and smooth them with a file. There is a slight gap of about two inches between the top rail and the fence fabric. While adjusting the tension band, you should try to keep the rails level.

Next, you need to attach the end brackets to the post. These should be attached to the post at least 5cm below the height of the wall. If you plan to attach the gate to the fence, it should be placed in the same way.

Then, you can pour the concrete mix. Make sure to follow the instructions of the manufacturer to prepare the mix. Normally, a 40-pound bag of concrete will be enough for 0.3 cubic feet of concrete. For an 80-pound bag, you will need 0.6 cubic feet of concrete. Alternatively, you can purchase a ready-made concrete. Mixing it can be as simple as mixing together four parts gravel and one part cement.

Lastly, you must pour the concrete mix around the base of the post. You can also mount the fence posts directly on the concrete. Using anchor bolts, you can fasten the posts. Regardless of the method used, it is important to remember that you should leave at least four days before you finish the installation.
