How to Install Hardware Cloth on Wrought Iron Fencing?

Hardware cloth is a wire mesh that can be used to create a stronger, more difficult-to-break fence for your home. It can also help to keep pets or small animals like rabbits from getting into your yard. To install it, you will need a few different supplies.

1. Posts (metal or wood)

You will need several posts if you plan to build a strong fence with mesh fencing. Metal T-posts are the best option for most homeowners. They come in a variety of heights and can be purchased at farm supply stores.

2. Mesh Fencing or Hardware Cloth

You can buy a roll of hardware cloth in a variety of strengths and sizes at a home improvement store. Some is very thin and easy to bend, while others are thick and sturdy. The strongest and most stable will be the best choice for your fencing project.

3. Baling Wire or Metal Tieses

You need baling wire to connect the mesh fence to your fence posts. You can purchase this in rolls or in pieces and attach it with a heavy-duty staple gun.

4. Stainless Steel or Galvanized Metal Screens

You should select a metal screen for your fence that is either galvanized before welding (GBW) or galvanized after welding (GAW). GAW is more durable and resistant to corrosion, but it may cost more than GBW.

5. The Wire Gauge You Need

A lower wire gauge is typically better than a higher one, but not all projects will work well with this type of wire. Generally, the thinner the wire, the easier it is to cut and handle as you prepare it for your project.

  1. A Small Weave Opening Is Essential For Snake Fences

To prevent snakes from entering your yard, you should select a wire mesh with a weave opening that’s no larger than a quarter of an inch. Anything larger can be too big for a snake to bite through.

  1. Ensure that you have enough extra material so that you can wrap it around the top and bottom of your fence posts.

8. The T-Posts You Need

To construct a fence with mesh, you will need several metal or wooden posts that are positioned 7-10 feet apart. These can be metal T-posts or wooden posts that are cut to size by a farm supply store.

Once you’ve got the posts in place, you can start installing the mesh. To attach it, you can use a heavy-duty staple gun or you can attach it with a wire tie.

After you have the mesh in place, you will need to fill the trench that you created with dirt from the ground. This will compact the dirt and secure the mesh in place.

You can then walk over the trench to compact it, and it should be ready for your fence. After you’ve done this, you can now finish the job by securing the hardware cloth to your fence with a series of zip ties.
