Before you start, make sure to remove the screws that are holding the top rail of the fence to the posts. If the fence has tabs on the rails, it will be much easier to remove them. These tabs can be cut with wire cutters or pliers. For those without tabs, you can use a drill and a Phillips head bit.

When removing the rails, make sure that you are wearing gloves. If you are not comfortable with this task, it might be a good idea to hire a fencing contractor. It is important to get the job done right to avoid future problems.

The first step in taking apart vinyl fence is removing the top rails. A drill or hacksaw can be used to remove the rails from the fence. Make sure that the rails are on the proper side of the posts and that the length of the rail is the same as the length of the fence. Otherwise, you will end up with some dents in the wood.

Once the top rail is removed, you can use a screwdriver to remove the screws. Some of these screws may be hidden inside the post. Another option is to take off the screws by slicing the metal.

Next, you can remove any splinters and burrs from the area. Removing the rough edges will help to smooth out the finished product. You can also feather the edges with fine grit sandpaper.

After all of these steps are completed, you will be ready to apply the paint to your new fence. Make sure that you choose a color that matches the existing fence. To ensure that the fence does not get painted over, use a rag to wipe away any excess paint.

If you have a rail that has a decorative opening on the top, you will need to use a screwdriver or a pliers to pry the railing off. If you have a rail that does not have a decorative opening, you can cut off the metal tabs with a pliers or a pair of wire cutters.

Once you are done repairing the fence, you can wash the area to remove any remaining chemicals. Once this is done, rinse the entire surface. Lastly, apply a coat of plastic paint. Allow the paint to dry before moving on to the next step.

Once you have successfully repaired the fence, you should be able to enjoy its beauty for years to come. However, there is no guarantee that your fence will last. In fact, some fences require more maintenance than others. Take care to regularly maintain your vinyl fence to prevent damage.
